  1. Nope its required to stay on base and in dormitories. At all stages.

  2. no.  he will be required to live in the barracks and NOT permitted to live in town.  you are not married and therefore do not exist in the Navy's eyes.

  3. No, he will be required to stay on base and will gradually earn off base privileges.  You could move their on your own but that would mean you would have to cover the expenses of moving and finding a place to rent for only the time he is there.  It would be better off for you to wait until he is done with his schooling and stationed on the boat.  You would still have to move yourself (the navy would only pay if you were married) but you really need to make sure that the relationship is going to last before you make that decision.

  4. I agree with the first posting - also how long is his A school - some are pretty short....may not be worth it. You may have to wait until his first duty station.

  5. First off, it's not allowed, even if it was allowed if wouldn't be possible. You guys aren't married.

Second, after his A school, if he wishes to live off base, he has to be I think an E-5 minimum to be able to do so. So I doubt he's near being an E-5.

Third, if you want more support and advice, see what goes on in boot camp etc. head on over to http://www.mynavyonline.com Im KJC88 there. There are a lot of parents, gfs, bfs, retired and acive sailors who discuss what goes on.

Good luck, and write him a lot while he's at boot camp!

  6. The last thing your boyfriend needs while in A-school is a girl friend demanding any of his time.  He needs to stay on base, study on his own and in study groups.  Stay home.  Besides, it's a violation of the UCMJ for a military person to cohabitate with someone they're not married to.  Didn't know that little tid-bit did ya?
