we are 24 years old, very in love and have overcome many obstacles, but i do not know how we will get through this- he is going too far away.

we used to live near each other in Massachusetts as friends and for the first year that we began dating. then i went to college in Rhode Island and he moved with his family to Maryland. We have been doing the long-distance thing for many years from RI or MA to MD.

i am now 2 years out of college and living at home in MA to save some money, i also have my own house my father built for me.

my boyfriend's family has now decided to move from Maryland to Texas and he is going to go with them.

we have stayed together through the past long distance relationship knowing that some day everything would come together and we would be happy- but now Texas is way to far away to have a relationship.

we used to see each other for one weekend a month, and one full weeks vacation per year. but now with him moving to texas, that would no longer be any where close to realistic.

I need some help or words of advice.

  1. I need more details.

Why is he choosing to move with them to Texas? He is 24 yrs old, why can't he just move in with you?

He can't live with his mom & dad forever, right?

  2. He is 24. Can't he sacrifice and move in with you? has he even thought of that? He needs to be independent now.

  3. It is time to cut bait and fish. You have a house in Miami. Why don't you two get married and live in the house? You have your job, and can you find him one there?

    OR

Sell the house and both of you move to somewhere you can  both get jobs in your respective fields.

    Regards,

    Dan

  4. Long distance relationships are a lot of work, trust me I should know. It shouldn't matter if you are 10 miles away or thousands the love should remain the same. You will both have to make sacrifices to make it work. Know what to expect, less visits and tough times. You have been making things work so far so why not at least try to make things work? I live on the west coast and my boyfriend lives on the east so it takes a lot of trust and commitment. We have been together for 6 years and doing the long distance thing for 9  months. At times we get lonely and doubtful if this will work out but our love and a hopeful future keeps us going. Love is a very rare thing to find so hang on to it. Good Luck!

  5. If i were you i would move with him and try to find a house somewhere around where he lives. That is if you love him a lot
