My boyfriend wants to become a pipe fitter how long do you have to attend college for that? please help.

There is usually so many hours of class you must attend.  It is usually over the course of an apprenticeship.  Typically apprenticeships are 3-5 years depending on the program.  If he is going to join a pipe fitters union, I suggest speaking with the union rep to answer all his questions.  If he is not going through a union, he will need to find some kind of non-union apprenticeship program.
