So i got my top and bottom front row braces on yesterday because the rest of my teeth hasn't healed from surgery. How long will this pain last? An what can i do to help ease the pain? Because i took 2 tylenol yesterday but that didn't seem to help. And i woke up and can't go back to sleep because i am in pain.

  1. usually, the pain from getting my braces on/tightened lasted 2-3 days after the appointment. try taking advil or motrin. they are also painkillers like tylenol.

  2. The day after you get your braces on are the worst. It will slowly (and I mean slowly) decrease, then in about a week everything should feel okay- and you can eat again!

Well I don't think anything can help the pain- just think of your perfectly straight teeth after it all- it's worth it!

  3. If they tylenol isn't kicking in you can only wait :/

For me, the pain lasted about three to four days everytime I got the tightened which was once a month.

The next ones should hurt less cause you get kind of used to it.

Hang in there and don't apply pressure!Just gotta give it time.

  4. Ask your orthodontist for something stronger, maybe tylenol #3 with codeine.  Some pain is expected, but it shouldn't interfere with your sleep.
