  1. You don't. I had braces and they ache like h**l. All you can do is take some painkillers to ease the pain and to stop them rubbing, put that waxy stuff on which they give you.

They will stop aching fully after about 1-2 weeks. But when you get them tightened they will ache for 1-3 days after. But it's all worth it in the end!

  2. I feel your pain because I also have braces. When this happens, I just take pain relievers. It might take a while to go away, but the pain would go completely:)

  3. i would take a couple of advil...and no joke here...steal a beer from the fridge.  it's going to hurt...and it's going to continue to hurt EVERY time they get tightened...the next ortho appt you have...tell your dentist that it hurt so bad you couldn't do your schoolwork.  and that you'd like a prescription for some pain meds.  a little vicodin wouldve made my life alot easier when i had braces, i just didnt know to ask.  don't forget that youre HIS PATIENT, no mattter how old you are, and your health and comfort are HIS JOB.

  4. when i got mine on they hurt for like a week. a took pain reliever and ate soft foods

  5. That's normal.  They will hurt at first.

  6. dont u get a kind of gel like bonjela ? just drink soup and stuff DONT EVEN TRY EATING MEAT ! icecream helped me!

  7. Advil

  8. Not much you can do, it will go away though. Try taking a tylenol and eat soft foods or drink liquids. Cold liquids might make you feel lee pain..

  9. I used wax and some painkillers, try not to focus on the pain and you won't notice it so don't sit and watch tv talk to your friends or something and really get into a conversation.

  10. It will get worst in the following days, especially right after you sleep. The best way is to avoid anything hard.. even bread. Just eat noddles, soup and bread soaked in your favorite drink...

Chew with the roof of your mouth and tounge. Take ENOUGH pain killers.

  11. Oh honey....

Get over the counter topical medication to numb certain areas that bother you....

Before you invest in an over the counter pain killer, I would see the orthodontist again...I had braces too...mine hurt, but it appears as though your pain may be a bit abnormal. See if you can get something a little stronger from them (a higher miligram of Motrin or Codeine).

Other than that....hang in there, it will pass once your teeth adjust.

You may want to keep these items on hand for when you go in for periodic tightenings as well...

    Good luck!

  12. oooh i just got mine haha just about 3 days ago.

what i do is that i take a tylenol (other pain killers will do) then i would sleep. i know sleeping doesnt sound too big but when u sleep, u dont feel it as much. of course, when u wake up it does =(

also, drink ice cold water but make sure the ice doesnt go in ur mouth. ice can damage ur braces and make it more painful

eat soft soft soft food. mine hurts so much that i cant even chew so i have been eating yogurt and mash potatoes and soup and stuff like that haha

  13. your gonna have to get use to it.

  14. Oooh, I think I just got that Wednesday. But yea, the pain will mostly go away after 1-2 days. Just take whatever pain medication you use and eat softer foods.

  15. Take an Advil,Tylenol,Ibuprophen ETC.

    DRink something cold.

  16. try using your wax and after about a week and they still hurt then go to wear you got them!
