I took my skoda octavia diesel for its first mot and they failed it because it had no brake lights.

I drove 3 miles home checked them again and they were working fine. Ive checkd the fuse and its ok, ive noticed this problem before and it seems intermittant and doesnt happen very often. thanks.

  1. Possible causes:

    1. Dodgy brake light switch.

    2. Dodgy contacts/wiring on brake light circuit.

    3. Bulbs have gone (if you hit them or go over a bump the filament may contact and bulb might work)

    4. Blown fuse.

  2. Sounds like its either your brake light switch or a relay with burnt contacts
