My brakes lights suddenly are not working?

This morning I hitched my boat trailer to my Dodge Durango but the brake lights on my trailer and even my truck were not working. I could partly understand the trailer not working but why my truck. They were working just fine yesterday. So I unhitched the trailer and checked the fuses on the Dodge which looked fine and the brakes work fine. I am baffled. Does anyone have a clue?

Trailer wiring probably short circuiting, especially if you live in an area that gets snow -- the snow gets into the wiring and corrodes it, and your tires kick up salt.

Its shorting out your brake lites, circut. check the trailers wiring and plug.

Fuse 5 (20amp) in the fuse box under the hood is the one that provides power to the brake light switch.
