  1. you shouldn't have more than one oscar in a 55 gallon tank unles you're planning a 125+ for the two to go in..

for tonight he'll be fine in the bowl but not untill he's large you only have a few hours max in that unheated unfiltered bowl..

  2. well if his new home isn't ready now why will it be ready tomorrow??

the point of this starting question is it wont be 100 percent ready for him because it takes longer than a night to properly cycle and build up the good bacteria and if u treated the tank with dechlornator then all it really needs to do before putting him in it is to heat up

but since you have another tank up and running if it has been running for a couple of months I will tell you how to fix the new tank and get it cycled withen a couple of weeks

do 25 percent water changes every 3 days but don't add new water add water siphoned from the gravel of the established tank crud and all

this will seed and cycle your tank withen a week or 2

  3. He should be fine over night.I have the same fish in a bowl. After

he at least gets a little older change the bowl in to a 30 gallon tank

at least. And yeah they are pretty big.I preffer the long ones.

  4. You know what I think?  I think that if temp is a big issue, just run an hose from the tank it's going in to the bowl for like 30-60 mins, and temp isn't an issue anymore.

I think if you are going to use chemical product, the only one you need is Prime.  It will dechlorinate for you as well as ionize any ammonia and nitrite.

I also think you'd waste your time listening to rizzle drizzle and the anecdotal information they always use.  Most of your bacteria is in your filter bed and not your gravel anyways.  If you're going to use anything, try to use part of your sponge, or if you have a good filter, the bio media, and that will give you live bacteria.

BG is good with that 125, though you can just as well do this with a 90.

  6. You should never buy fish before their tanks are ready.  By you moving him to several different environments in such a short time period, it's not healthy for the little guy

    .

He went from the store (1)

    To "the bowl" (2)

and then you're putting him into another tank (3).

Also, I hope he's healthy.  The last two fish I bought at Walmart  diseased my tank.

    Good luck!
