My break pads are good, so why do they squeak when I step on them?

I just had a full oil change service and they checked the breaks as well. The front pads are at 8m and the back pads are at 4m, but EVERY time I step "off" the breaks they make a squeak. I don't have any trouble stopping. Everything in that area is fine. What could be the cause of the squeaking?

  1. you look at pads again pads should be thicker than the medal backing plate they are glued to like a 1/4 inch or more... rust is most common squeak besides the pad being wore out which is likely.. best you stop at another shop anyone can do brakes my wife and i do ours at home  easy to do if you know how it works and much cheaper pads cost like 30 bucks for a lifetime warranty rotors vary in prices and not all shops are the same so  either replace them or have another check them out

  2. mine do the same thing. cheap brake pads. they can also create a lot of ugly looking brake dust on the rims....

  3. cheap pads, don't ride the brakes, rotors are glazed.

  4. all brakes are cheap they just make you think they arent anyway its the material they are made of semi- metallic will squeak more than ceramic its like metal on metal

  5. When the brakes where installed did they put brake lubricant on the back of the pads?
