  1. How many miles are on it?

    Drums or disk?

If drums it may be brake dust.

    Disk brakes can become glazed.

NEVER put any type of oil or grease on any part that contacts the rotor or pad Drum or shoe.

  2. probably they will probably last you for a while but yo should think about getting new ones because if you leave them alone for a little while then your breaks wont work anymore put some wd40 on them and they should last you a little while longer

  3. DO NOT PUT WD-40 on your brakes, have them  checked out by a dealer.

  4. All disc brakes allow you to check the wear of your pads without removing them, it can involve a bit of contorting, there will be a groove on the pad, if they are worn down to that groove they should be replaced. More than likely it is due to dust, this can be cleaned off using brake and clutch cleaner which evaporates leaving no greasy surfaces. On some styles of brake caliper some copper grease on the area between pad and piston can reduce squeal – do not get it on the disc or the pad face, even if you wipe it off the pad will be contaminated in a remarkably short time.

  5. Assuming you are using brake pads (not shoes):

How new are your brakes? If you are pretty sure they aren't worn out (haven't been using them for a long time), then it is probably just that the pads have become glazed or are cold. On most bikes the pads will squeak the first time(s) you use them after getting on the bike.

If you have been using the same brake pads for a long time and they continue to squeak throughout your ride, you should have them checked.

  6. Brakes can squeak when cold, dirty, worn out. I suggest you have them checked by a qualified technician.
