I have well water and never really drank it , I have always used brita filters on my faucet. Is well water safe? It passed the health inspection in Nov 07 but I am just worried about other issues, like I heard somebody found ameba (sp?) from well water.

  1. BOTTOM LINE!!!! IT IS SAFER THAN ALL MUNICIPAL WATER SOURCES AND FOR THE MOST PART BOTTLE WATER AS WELL AS LONG AS IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED. IF YOU ARE REALLY FREAKY ABOUT IT YOU COULD ALWAYS STRAIN OUT THE DEBRIS AND BOIL THE WATER FOR 5 MINS TO DESTROY ANY CRITTERS WAITING TO POUNCE ON "YOU AND YOUR LITTLE DOGS TOO!!!!!"

SORRY, THAT WAS A WIZARD OF OZ --MOMENT.

BY THE WAY I HAVE WELL WATER AS WELL, I ALSO RECOMMEND   THE PUR  WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM IT IS ALOT MORE EFFICIENT THEN THE BRITA.

  2. Go ahead and drink it. Your Nov. inspection is still current.

  3. I would not panic too much as a Brita filter on a tap can only take out a few impurities. The water you have been drinking must be safe. If you still have issues I would boil for 5 min then cool it. You should look into other types of in line filters that will do a better job. The Brita mainly makes your water taste a little better because it is flowing through a charcoal filter but a very small one.

  4. WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR LITTER OF PUPPIES?

  5. You could always boil it first if you want to for your safety if you feel its necessary

  6. I grew up on well water, and not from just one well. For the first 16 years of my life that's all we had. I personally think it's much better than municipal water. Like some people said you can boil it if you're super worried, but we never had a single problem the entire time I was growing up. In fact, at least on our wells we had tested, you actually get more minerals from well water than typical water sources. In my opinion, drink up!

  7. As some one else said, you inspection is still current so don't worry about your water. Boil it and add a couple of drops of bleach per gallon if you're really worried , but you'll be fine. If your well was that contaminated, they wouldn't allow you to even have access to it, much less be able to filter it in your Brita system.

I grew up on Rocky Mountain well water and I am still alive to tell about it. (plus probably have better bones from all the extra calcium from the extra hard water)

Dogs can drink water that would not hurt them at all, but would make a human sick. They will be fine.
