My brother clogged the toilet! What should we do!?

Ok, my older brother ran to me and was freaking out cause he CLOGGED the toilet, BIG TIME. So he kept flushing and waiting and its been 30 min. LOL He is freaking out cause we have this lady that rents in our house and she uses the bathroom he clogs. He is desperately thinking of ways to unclogged, but unfortunately didnt work. Please help, I don't want my brother to be embarrass by this lady or our DAD cause he's the only one that uses the plunger. I don't no where the plunger is and how to use it! So please, help my older bro out cause he's like panicking behind me. =/ Please don't criticize this question, he didn't "c**p", he just stuffed WAY too much toilet paper. What should we do ??? Please don't say, use a plunger, we need other tips, ASAP!

unless you have a pipe snake, I don't know what else to tell you but to use a plunger. They really do work to unclog. If you can find it, all you have to do put the plunger over the hole in the toilet and push it up and down until the "clog" clears.

I don't know what to tell you if you don't have a plunger. Go buy one? They're really inexpensive. If that doesn't work, a drain snake is the next step.

Don't let her use that bathroom until it's fixed though... that could lead to FAR more embarrassment than just telling her that it's out of order at the moment and politely apologizing and asking her to use a different bathroom in the house. You could even hang a sign on the door if it would be less embarrassing. Just make sure it says sorry and that it's only temporary.

Instead of a plunger, try a mop. The big, cotton head types work best. You get a better seal in the bowl and more suction.

Failing that, get a bucket of water, stand on a chair, and tip it as fast as it'll go down the toilet from right up high. This should dislodge and clear any blockage.

If that doesn't work...toilet paper will dissolve...eventually...

find plunger and insert rubber end down, then push and release with the wood/plastic arm.

youre definitely going to have to find a plunger.  thats all there is to it

Find plunger if you can. In lieu of a snake open up a wire coat hanger, curve it to match your toilet's outlet and try to break up whatever you can reach. If there is room -- if the water has drained down a bit -- pour in a bucket of Very hot water, helps dissolve the paper, also works on grease clogs in the kitchen.  

Worst case you have to call RotoRooter. I hate paying if I can fix it myself. :)

Oh and like someone else said, after clearing, keep flushing. 5 flushes one after another usually will fill a line if the clog stops at the house trap. If this happens write back and we'll deal with it.

You might want to start rationing TP to your brother. :)

Unless he flushed something really strange, the plunger should work hate to say.  While plunging, since home plumbing is a "wet system" down stream from the piping traps, plungers will work as long as you move the blockage back and fourth enough.  To properly use a plunger, you'll want to make sure you have the plunger entierly covering the hole, and push down, letting the rubber bring it back up, 10-15 times per attempt.  When the blockage gets cleared in a toilet it will basically flush itself.  after plunging a toilet, you always want to make sure to flush 3-4 times just to make sure the blockage has passed the home's sewer main.  When a plunger won't work, snaking the pipes is the next best thing for a full blockage.  Snakes work by feeding a "bit" or "s***w" into the blockage to break it up, but unless you have a snake, you're kind of luck.  Since you said the problem was way to much paper, since it's been a little over 30 min, try the plunger again; toilet paper is actually designed to break down when wet.

if you go to your local hardware store you can buy a chemical that should disolve most toilet problems other than that tell him to c**p somewhere else
