  1. Check out this credit card site.    www.credit-cards-comparison. com for info on how to build credit history and to apply for a credit card.  One thing he may want to do it put away $100 per week starting now and then get a pre-paid VISA.    He has about 14 weeks to save.   THat may require some sacrifice but it will be worth it when he is in a London pub having a pint.  Yes, he can have one there.  Plus the more he saves, the less he will be in debt when he gets back and that will make the trip even more sweet.

I hope he has a great and safe time.

  2. He won't get a $2000 credit card by December.

But if he's making $300 a week (and doesn't have a lot of household expenses), he should be able to put enough aside to finance the trip and simply use a debit card. Then, he'll only need the $500 credit card for emergencies on the trip.

  3. If he's never had any kind of credit, the odds of a company giving him a 2k credit line are slim.

If he isn't going on that trip for a while, he might apply for another card in a few months to get more credit line.

The card companies are going to watch how he does with the 500 card before they up his credit line.

  4. He cannot afford to spend 2K on a trip when he only makes 300 a week.......sorry........stay home until he can afford it.......a second job crosses my mind.......

  5. I'm not very knowledgeable in this area, but I'd say probably not.  Without a credit history, nobody is probably going to take a chance at lending out 2,000$.  I just applied for a credit card and my limit is quite low with high interest, but again, never having a credit history (especially now) is most likely not going to get him a $2,000 limit card.
