  1. I think if your brother's problem focusing was as severe as you think, a family member or teacher would have already recognized it and recommended he get tested. I wouldn't worry too much, he is only 8. In a few years if his behavior hasn't calmed down and you're still concerned, then talk to your parents or a family member that you trust. Good luck.

  2. It's possible, but it's possible that he could just be a right-brained thinker.  They're often misdiagnosed as having ADD.  If no one has ever suggested the idea, it could be because he doesn't have enough symptoms to warrant testing, or it could be that his teachers don't want to be the ones to break the news.  As an elementary school teacher myself, I'm hesitant to even mention focus as a problem sometimes because I know how lots of parents think we just want their kids drugged up and in their seats.  I can't speak for other teachers, but that's certainly not my own intention.  Anyway, it's really an issue for your parents to deal with.  If you're curious about it, do an Internet search about right-brained thinkers and see if your brother fits the description.

  3. i have  ADD. and if you think your brother has it. get him  tested for it. it might be a little expensive but you can really help  him if he does. there are good meds and stuff to take for it.

    ADD symptoms:

    - lack of focus

    - bad memory

    - squirmy in seat (for ADHD)

    - easily distracted by surroundings

    - takes a long time doing school work/ home work

    - not organized

    i hope i helped!!

  4. He might.  Your mom needs to make a parent teacher conference and find out what his behavior is like in school.  If his teacher is concern she just might mention if he has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD.  Then your mother can look into making an appt with a Psychologist.

  5. There is one thing you can try at home to get some idea if he has ADD. Before he goes to do some focused activity, give him some coffee or tea with caffeine. Then watch him and question him afterward. If he finds that he is having an easier time focusing, that would be an indicator that he might have ADD. This is because those with ADD react to stimulants differently. If you think he may have it, he should see a pediatric neurologist for testing.

  6. He needs to see a Dr. That's the only way this will get handled properly!

  7. Maybe.  It took several years of testing and counselling to know for sure that my grandson had it.  He's on a med now, and the change in him is fantastic!

Encourage your folks to have him tested.

  8. most likely but he young and at that  age alot of people cant stay focused
