My brother has had a quarter of his brain removed from cancer and after his second surgery he had a stroke the next day. this was 2/4/08. He was in a neuro-rehabilitation center for 2 months afterward. they released him without having a way to have physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. I can't wait any longer to find a center to help him. they are taking way too long.

now it is 7/17/08.

He is only missing mobility from his right arm, his elbow down and his right leg, the knee down. what can I do to increase strength in his arm and leg? [exercises?]

  1. Thats' terrible that he hasn't had ongoing physio as an outpatient.

In these situations, physio consists mainly of moving the arm or leg through the normal range of motion.  The idea is that if this is done repeatedly, the muscle tone will be maintained, and the brain may relearn how to move the muscle,

If they regain some movement then basically they are given exercises to build up their strength.  It may start from something as light as lifting a pencil depending how paralyzed they are.

    Good luck
