My brother whose only crime in his lifetime has been speeding, was thrown to the wolves by his lawyer. His wife was doing drugs and told him she had lupus. She is a past exotic dancer and prostitute. He had only been married a year. She told him that she had to have meth in order to be able to survive this horrible disease. He had no knowledge whatsoever. He was 50 when they met. She had him buy 4 pakgs. of psuedo-whatever, and he was caught. She received 3 years, he got 6. His lawyer sold him down the river. The judge felt sorry for wife, she had such a hard life. Milt should have known better, etc. Judge said he was making an example of Milt. Police really wanted him because he was a prison guard. Yes, he was around lots of drug addicts, but guarding them and hanging with them are two different things. My brother was stupid, but he took the hit for her and everyone let him. How do I help him?

  1. If he's already been sentenced, then there is little you can do.

If he really believed the "I need meth for my Lupus" BS then I have no idea how he managed to dress himself every day.  That is the stupidest lie I ever heard.

  2. he needs to file an appeal and get a different lawyer.

  3. Write him lots of letters. Sorry dude. No one gets six years for "pseudo-whatever". Though you may not be aware of the whole story, there is more. Are you sure he did not bring dope into the jail or prison where he worked? That sounds more like a six year term.

You can go to the court where he was convicted and read the entire case including charges before any plea bargain. That may give you a better idea about what really happened.

  4. You really believe this BS...he didn't know that she shouldn't be doing Meth?  Come on now.  He's a 50 year old guy and doesn't know how to look something up on the internet?  No person with Lupus should ever do meth and it's pretty easy to find something like this out.  It's a load of BS...he deserves to be in jail if not just for the drugs but also for his stupidity.

  5. I am a Correctional Officer, recently retired and have seen many officers lately, go down for buying stuff, to bring into the prison and sell at 5x the street value.

Your brother knew what he was doing was wrong and chose to continue to thrive illegally.

Meth is given free for a methadone program on the streets to drug addicts to help withdrawals?

He got what he got because he was a police officer that went the wrong way and got caught.

5 officers in the last 4 years have been busted with drugs and cell phones. Each has made a killing in sales till they got caught. Now in Alabama, each got 20 years for introduction and I am glad, they got what they deserved. If ya cannot do the time, don't do the crime.

  6. I think your brother is old enough to know better. He was a guard too. He should appeal. That is why they have medicine. I think there is more to this story than you are letting us know.

  7. He is a prison guard, which is a law enforcement officer and he did not know meth was illegal?

    Sure.....

Milty should have known better. Much better.

  8. That's horrible.  He was busted for buying pseudo ephedrine - probably to manufacture meth.  That's the only way he could get busted.  Six years seems to be the standard.  If he didn't test positive for drugs or had a clean record, the courts wouldn't have pushed it.

Being someone who worked at a prison he had a lot of contact with criminals in his lifetime, knew right from wrong, and with all the news coverage about meth, he had to have known what he was doing. I know he's your brother, but seriously, think about it.  pseudo ephedrine to treat Lupus?  You can feel bad for him being sucked into crystal meth.  He was busted for manufacturing.

  9. Once an error is clearly and fully understood, it need not be repeated. Addiction is to the false Self. Drugs and Alcohol are just self-medication trying to alleviate the pain caused by that  addiction .

Drug and addiction  can be devastating to family members and individuals.Drug addiction treatment  can include medications, behavioral therapy (such as cognitive therapy, psychotherapy, counseling, etc. ). A Research Based Guide released from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) said that treatment must be specific to each individual and assessed and modified continually to match the person’s changing needs.

  10. "But baby....meth helps my medical problems" ..... sorry but he fell for that?

How about.....calling her lupus doctor and asking "Hey Doc, is meth good for lupus?" before going out to purchase the illegal drug. (and he did not get 6 years for purchasing pseudophedrine---which is a legal drug. You just have to purchase it behind the counter now and sign for it. Most stores will only sell you one box at a time every 30 days -- there is way more to the story than that. )

I've heard of medical marijuana......but never medical meth!

Sorry you are having to go through this. I know it is hard on your family. But as a prison guard -- a law enforcement officer he knows better than any one that meth is illegal. He was held to a higher standard.

If he chose to take the hit for her.....it was his choice, He's a grown man. He knew what the consequences of that choice would be. He knew he'd get locked up. From what you told us, it's not the first stupid choice he made.

Sometimes you can't save people from their own stupidity. All you can do is love them despite it.

  11. Write him a lot of letters and visit as often as you can.
