I know my brother made some bad decisions, but that doesn't mean that the police should get away with making mistakes. I believe that a mistake was made by police not following standard procedure and now they are covering it up. I can produce reports from the accident and the info we have gathered. Can you help me find the facts or give an unbiased opinion?

  1. I'm sorry for your loss, but if your brother had done the right thing and not tried to run from the police, he'd still be alive. Ultimately, that's where the blame lies.

  2. I would suggest you write to the police's "Public Disclosure Act" officer or "Right to Know Act" officer (depending on your state).  You can ask for all information about your brother's death and the police's operating procedures. In your letter if you can quote state law (you'll have to look it up) the faster the response can be.

The police need to respond to your request within a certain amount of time (it depends on your state laws). They can either deny the information requested or state that you will have to pay for the copies of it and what the costs will be.

  3. Hi Im sorry to hear about your brother it must be very difficult for you & I can well understand your anger & frustration.

I have had unfair & unjust treatment from the Police albeit in a minor matter so I know how bad they can get things - but Im afraid your brother did not consider any of the potential innocent members of the public when he decided not to stop for the police & so I could never agree with putting any blame on them as a consequence of your brothers own actions.

  4. The only thing that I can think of you doing is first file a complaint with the police department and with your states attorney generals office, you might also get the news stations involved with this because they have their own attorneys on staff that can get to the truth.

I hope that this helps you and I am sorry for your loss.
