My brothers and sisters in Christ do you dress attractively or do you dress to attract?

This is in response to a post someone had about Islamic women's dress. As a woman I try to dress clean, neat, decent, modest, and feminine without being flashy or frumpy but I do not dress to garner undue attention. What are your feelings about this?

Thanks for all serious answers.

  1. As a Christian I agree with you position and admire you for it . And think more women should hold to it. Christian women in Church included... God bless you !

  2. Hon, I live on a farm. Chickens don`t care how you are dressed. Most mornings they see me in housecoat and bunny slippers.  {:-)

I dress to cover my nakedness. At my age it would scare the hens to not lay.. LOL

I am clean and neat. I don`t need to impress anyone.. God made us Naked. He doesn`t care what you wear either.. If all folks have to do is think about how they look then they have too much time and they need to get a life and find some way to help others..

Peace and God bless from Texas <><

  3. I wear clothes that are comfortable and don't make me look sloppy. I wouldn't say that I dress attractively or to attract. I don't really even try to look good.

  4. I dress for comfort and business casual. Definitely do  not dress to attract attention.

  5. Personally, I think Christian women should dress with modesty

As a man, I struggle with lust on a daily basis. Women who dress provokingly only tempt us more.

  6. I feel the same as you. I prefer to look neat and be modest and don't feel the need to be flashy.

  7. I thought this was the Religion and Spiritually section.

  8. I dress conservatively so that I don't put myself in situations that are bad for my marriage.

  9. I am extremely modest in my dressing, but I don't wear white tshirts and jeans every day of my life.

  10. I dress for comfort and to look good but not flashy or frumpy.

  11. I am and always will be all about comfort baby!

  12. I dress for comfort. I guess I should start being more feminine =)

  13. This is a very good question and without being to wordy I'll try to express what I've learned from the scriptures.Anything that putt's God's WORD Jesus, the Bible as second, is an Idol. ( False God) Anything that causes a person to justify causing another person to SIN is called Vanity.

Even wearing clothes must be done to the Glory of God. It is never about us , it is always about Pleasing, serving and glorifying God as our reasonable service. Mind control is a kill, steal and destroy tactic that attracks the emotions and feelings of God's children by the enemy satan the devil and demons. Clothes should never be an attraction mechanism for physical or mental attention, but to serve the purpose of physical hygiene's and protection only. Anything done to fight against SIN if it's lead by the Holy Spirit glorifies God and if we can not put the feelings of God first in the choices we make even in the clothes we wear, we as Christian's do God a great dis-service and our actions maybe self centered and self serving .

  14. I say... you're only young once...

  15. I wonder.  So many women today dress very immodest.  Shorts barely cover the base.  Women wear several tight fitting layers and not a blessed one covers the stomach.  Yet I see them tugging shirts down and pants up.  I do my best not to gawk and stare.  I notice even at Christian schools this is a problem.  Do women have so little respect for themselves?  Watch dance competitions and the men can barely move for all the clothes and the women have a band-aid on there elbow.

You say you dress decent and modest.  Good.  How many of the women I have described would answer the same way?  Being a guy I wear a t-shirt with shorts or jeans and I am done.  On a good day or a Sunday I remember to comb my hair.

  16. I dress appropriately for the situation such as I'm casual and comfortable at home, modest and feminine for work and church.  It's just not me to be flashy and revealing even when I wasn't a Christian.  Muslims think they have a monopoly on modesty and that "western" women all dress like whores.  They are so wrong.  And we don't let our men dictate what we wear.

  17. Me, I dress with two things in mind.  Comfort and ease when it comes to changing clothes, which means most of my clothes are oversized, and hide my body shape, I have COPD, so it is essential the that clothes be fairly loose.  So I look like a fashion disaster according to what not to wear (tops that are 3 x's larger than my size, and jeans a size too big), but it's clean, and for the most part neat.  So I look like a tomboy still, oh well, I'm not trying to impress anyone with how I dress.

  18. I try to dress in a respectful and pleasing manner, but not attractive. The only one I should care to attract is my husband in the privacy of our own home.  I always make sure I don't go out in public with stains or tears in my clothing.  I always wear modest dresses or skirts and tops, making sure my legs are covered at least from the knee up as well as my shoulders, middle, and chest.  I do not want to risk making anyone lust over me by wearing tight or revealing clothing, then I would be partly responsible for their sinful thoughts.  I always think about whether Our Lord and Our Lady are pleased with my attire.

  19. I dress attractively and get compliments from all walks of life. But God warns us about modesty, pride, and vanity. So, no I don't dress for attention.Besides,I'm married!
