My brothers girlfriend took his baby girl!!?

My brother is a full time parent to his 8month old daughter and 12 days ago the babys mom took her from his home and he has not seen her since then. He has tried countless times to contact them but from what I know my brothers girlfriend is hiding the baby. He went to apply for legal gaurdian ship and his next court date is on friday. The child services were supose to do assements but so far there is nothing, the police are not helping and the court! well they are taking their time and yet they say their major concern is childs safety. My brothers girlfriend has neglected the baby since birth, she is always going out, she likes to smoke pot and she is a complusive gambler and when she took the baby she did not even take her car seat, high chair, her baby food, her toys only the clothes that my brother and I bought for her. What more can he do when every body seems to not care enough to help? The girlfriend and her parents are all suspended drivers as well.

Unfortunately there is nothing you or your brother can do on your own. You will have to wait until Child services and the police do their job, because they were not married and he does not yet have legal custody. She is the mother, and her rights come first. Again it is very unfortunate. The only option now is to try to get child services and the police to hurry and do something. Bug them to death.

well technically she has all rights to that child because they seem to have joint custody until he gets sole custody.

You can report a missing child however since she's with her mother the police won't really do much...unless the mother broke into the house, kidnapped the child and left...but since you both know the mother has the child, the police aren't going to do much, they're lazy you know!

your brother needs to get sole custody and the mother can have supervised visiations since she can't be trusted. He has to ask for that though.

File a missing persons report for the baby.

They will not do anything to file a missing persons for the mother, but call or go in and say his baby is missing, tell them she was last seen with the mother.

Also try contacting her parents, friends, or anyone who may know where she and the baby may be.

I hate to see mothers who think it's best their baby never see the father.  The father is just as important as the mother.

Lets hope that the court will award the child to your brother.  He seems to the the one who loves her.   Because his girlfriend is the legal parent too, she would need to be proven unfit for him to have full custody.  Finding her could be a problem.  

The police can't legally help your brother because she is her mother.  I hope your brother has a lawyer.  

This is a sad situation.  Marriage to a good person would have solved this problem.  Hopefully next time your brother will go that route.  I will pray for this baby, her father and you.  God bless.
