that his mother in law does to the baby. The other day she smacked the baby and put her in time out because she did not say "Hello" to grandpa. She is almost 2 years old, she forces her to eat with comments like "She'll eat when I tell her to eat", and she constantly yells are her. She treats the baby as if she were 5 or 6 years old. Mom and dad are not around when this stuff happens Should I say something, I mean she is my niece. Or should I confront the mother in law?

  1. Talk with your brother.  Tell him exactly and only what you've seen and heard.  If he and his wife do nothing, you have a terrible decision to make because child protective services is the next call and that's rife with bad things that could happen.  Look at it this way, if that was your child temporarily in the custody of your brother and his wife, what would you do?  Me?  Having seen the terrible damage such abuse does to children, I'd do whatever it took to protect the child.  (Keep in mind that your brother's wife came out of the abusive household and could have her own parenting problems.)

  2. Yikes!!!!! i dont even know what to say you need to stick up for the child with no voice!

  3. WOW thats horrible. I would NOT want anyone hitting my little girl & at almost 2 years old!! I would tell your brother and if you see it again (before or after you tell your brother) I would DEFINATLY comfront the grandmother. Your right she is your niece and we need to protect our family especially our little ones.

If your mother-in-law was treating your child that way and your brother saw wouldnt you want him to tell you and comfront the grandma? I know I would.

GOOD LUCK HUNNY & I'm sorry you have to see that.

  4. Confront. I'd go to the police. That's child abuse. If she will do that to a 2 year old imagine what she can be like when the kid gets older!

That is child abuse on her part and neglect on your if you don't step in.

  5. talk  to someone  about   the   baby     i  hope  good  luck

  6. talk to your brother. then next time confront the mother in law. then go to police and at the end please do slap the mother in law.

  7. You need to tell your brother what is going on-he really needs to know how his child is being treated. If your brother doesn't do anything about it, then you can try to confront the mother in law but I doubt it would do any good so call the police!

The baby is being abused and it needs to stop asap. No one should treat a baby like that, a person shouldn't treat any child, no matter the age, like that.

You do what needs to be done to keep the baby safe, even if it makes your brother or other members of the family mad.
