o Either you have too many browsers open

Solution : Close browsers that you are not using.

o An application that suck huge memory like Adobe Photoshop might be running behind on the process list.

Solution: Close it if you do not need it. If you need it anyways, you need to compromise based on the amount of  RAM your PC has.

o A malware might have hijacked your browser.

Sol: Use Adaware an Spybot and remove it.

Tip: run msconfig (start -> run -> msconfig) if you are using XP. Else download msconfig from the net and see the tab named sstartup. If there are too many processes in startup, remove all of them except for the antivirus and restart the PC. This definitely hhelps esp. if you use Quicktime etc. which sit on your startup once you use the application. Hope this helps...
