My budgies are breeding?

My budgies are starting to breed. I've got a few queestions about it:

1. My budgies have mated more than once, like 5 times already, is that normal?

2. What should I put into the nesting box. I've put in feathers, but is that what I should be putting in?

3. After they've mated, how long will the female have eggs come out?

4. When the female has mated, to their poo go different like all sloppy? I'm just wondering, is it the way the male feeds her that her poo becomes different?

5. I've got a albino budgie ( female ) and a green budgie ( male ) which have mated. What are the colours of the baby budgies?

Thanks so much!!!!!!!

PS: I really want to get a baby yellow budgie. Is that possible?

  1. Birds of any type can mate several times a day and usually do. It is very normal. If you want babies, put a nest box in the cage. I have to warn you though, sometimes the parents will not feed the babies. If this happens take them immediately to a pet store, they know how to feed them. Put them in a little box with holes to get air in the box, so they don't suffocate. Yes, their droppings get very sloppy when they have babies. You mighty get a yellow budgie, if you mate a green one with an albino, but more than likely, you have to mate two yellow (lutino) birds with each other, to get the same color. There are books on-line and at the Library on this subject.

  2. I caught my budgies breeding once too. But they never layed eggs.

Here's the answers to your questions:

    1. Yes, budgies mate several times.

    2. Just because your budiges mated doesn't mean they will lay eggs.

    4. First off they might not even lay eggs (not to be rude) second the eggs must be fertile to hatch if this is your pairs first time mating there is a 50% chance that the eggs are not going to be fertile. And the eggs are laid about 2-10 days after mating. They hen lays an egg every other day. Some hens lay it sooner and some later it depends on the bird.

    5. No one can really tell, but you probably are going to get a least one like each of the parents.

I'm not too sure about the whole lutino budgie. Check her for genetics and more http://www.budgieplace.com/genetics.html
