I have two male budgies and i can't get them to leave there cage. They will come out on there own and just sit on the cage. I know that should be a good thing because they are comfortable in there home but its kind of annoying that i try to move them to the other side of the room and they just fly back! Any help would be appreciatred!

  1. It's evident you haven't ever worked with them. When birds are bought together and put in a new home, together, they bond to one another and their cage because it's their "safe spot". Why should they leave it? It provides them everything they want.

    You need to work with them with training so that you are a positive thing in their life and they want to be around you instead of their cage. My birds try to fly away from their cages most of the time because they want to stay out! Here are some photos of my birds;

    I'd recommend target training them both so you can target them to your hand, arm, other room, etc... it is explained here;

  2. they r probably just protecting their area.my cockateil does that all the time.when teaching it tricks move to a new room .

  3. Some birds are just homebodies. ;) They may just be uncomfortable with the rest of the room. Don't try to take them across the room all at once - maybe pick one up, carry him a few feet away, and carry him straight back and follow it with a small treat. See if stepping up the distance a little bit at a time helps.
