My built in cam is not working, how will i know if its installed properly?

  1. Right click on My Computer (it can be on the desktop, you can do it from the start menu) and choose properties.  Click the Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.

    There will be a list of all the "hardware" that is attached to your computer.  Depending on the manufacturer of the camera, it may be in one of several categories.  Simply click the plus sign next to a category, to see what is installed.  

    If your cam is there, and you don't have the drivers for it installed, you should see a device with a yellow exclamation mark on it's little icon.  You might also see a device marked as "unknown" if you don't have drivers for it.

    You may want to visit the laptop's manufacturer's site, and download the latest drivers and utilities for the cam.
