  1. When I got in better shape the pain went away. I did lunges and squats and more bicycle riding. Think of your rear like a shoulder and work on it.  Also surprisingly I went from a comfort bike to a mountain bike. The mountainbike seat looks very hard but it feels okay because it forces you to sit correclty on your bones.

  2. Try a larger seat

  3. There are actual biker shorts that work like underwear. It has the padding of regular biker shorts, but the material is soft like underwear. You can actually use it with pants or shorts.

  4. Rob is right. Also, if your saddle is too high, causing you to sway side to side on the saddle, it will cause soreness.

  5. yeah that happened to me when i first started .you just need to spend more time on the saddle and you will get use to it

  6. there are 2 possibilities here:

    1. your seat may be good, but if it doesn't fit your 'sit bones" properly, your butt is going to be sore. See if you can try your friends' saddles and if they work better.  Also, try to adjust it up and down, and maybe forward to back and see if that helps.

    2. your butt may not be in riding shape yet. Usually it takes a week or two of riding before your backside gets in condition and loses its sore feeling. This is especially true if you do long distances

    good luck with this.
