  1. Your rabbit has a condition called sore hocks.  The cause of sore hocks can be linked to several things:

    1. A fungus can often be the root cause of sore hocks.  Make sure the cage where you keep your rabbit in is dry.  Wet flooring or a dirty cage provide optimal conditions for the fungus to grow.

    2. Having to heavy of a rabbit in a wire floored cage can cause sore hocks.  Any rabbit with an adult weight of 11 pounds or more should be kept on a solid floor instead of a wire floor.

    3. The wrong type of wire flooring can cause sore hocks.  If wire flooring is used, it should be 1/2"x1" 14 guage wire that this galvanized after welded.  Some people will use masonry wire mesh for rabbit cage flooring.  Masonry wire mesh is too thin in wire diameter and doesn't provide good support for the rabbit's feet.

    4. Some rabbits have genetics for thin pads on their feet.  A good rabbit breeder will breed for thick pads on the rabbit's feet to avoid sore hocks being a problem.

    5. Having more than one rabbit in a cage can cause sore hocks.  When more than one rabbit is in the same cage it can cause chasing of one or more of the rabbit's around the cage.  The extra movement around the cage can cause sore hocks.  In addition, it can cause the rabbit to become think and sick.

    Things you can do:

    1. If you have a wire floored cage, put a square of drywall in the center of the cage.  The drywall absorbs moisture, helping to keep the feet dry and it gives the rabbit a solid surface to stand on.  It won't hurt the rabbit if it chews or eats it either.  Just make sure to keep it away from the corners of the cage so pee and p**p doesn't build up on it.

    2. Put some Preparation H on the sore spots or spray some iodine on the sore spots.

It definitely would also be a good idea to go to a vet.  Sore hocks can become infected with puss.  If they do, the abscesses on the feet will need to be lanced and drained.  Your rabbit will also need some antibiotic too if that is the case.

  2. Find a vet specifically for bunnies and make sure his cage isn't barred on the bottom. It makes cleaning easier but their sensitive paws have to deal with it. Instead try putting something smooth on the ground and trying to litter train him. I hope he feels better soon! good luck!

  3. Oh... Poor thing has soar hocks.

Put triple antibiotic ointment on them and put a mat in his cage.

  4. you should take him him to the vets and get the vet to check him over  to makesure he is ok , take him as soon as possible :) hope he is ok!

  5. Do you have a cage with wire flooring?

If you do your bunny has hocks it is a common disease with bunnys that have cages like that!

To cure it you use Preperation H

If she has a wire cage flooring your bunny should have a carpet square in there or a big piece  of wood for them to lay on or stand to relieve pain on the feet you should have one of these 2 in there all the time.

  6. take him to a vet. call first to make sure they treat rabbits.

  7. your rabbit has a fairly serious condition called sore hocks caused by either wire flooring or dirty living conditions.

Please take him to am experienced rabbit vet immediately.

Then please do some research on properly housing rabbits: http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/
