My bunny keeps biting me should i get rid of it or should i find out a way to help it stop biting me!!?

His name is russel. he is a mini rex bunny and i rescued him from a person that didnt take care of him and he has terratory issues becuase of that. and he bites too. my dad said if i get rid of him i could get like a mouse or something like that! should i get rid of him!!!!!

My rabbit used to bite and charge at me.  It sounds stupid, but every time I would feed her I would get afraid to put my hand into her cage.

Now I talk to her very calmly when I get ready to feed or pet her, and she responds to that very well.  I make sure to pet her often to let her know that I am not going to hurt her.

Make sure you are feeding him enough.  Rabbits bite more when they are hungry.  If you set a regular feeding schedule he will get used to that and he will begin to trust that you are there to take care of him.

Alway be calm with him!  Don't ever hit him, or he will think that you are being mean to him and he will bite you even more.  If he bites you when you take him out simply put him back into his cage to give him a 'time out'.

Also, make sure you are giving him wood pieces to chew on (you can get them at wal-mart).  A rabbit's teeth never quit growing so they need something hard to chew on at all times.  Spoil him with some treats daily too.  My bunnies love grapes, bananas, and carrots.  Hand feed these to him through his cage so that he doesn't bite you, and so that he knows that you like him and are treating him like a king:)

Try some of these things for a couple of weeks and see if it helps.  You need to remember that he came from someone who didn't take care of him very well and he probably doesn't trust humans, and is afraid of them.

Is he neutered?  If not, have it done, ti will likely help.  And STOP picking him up and reaching into his cage.  Rabbits generally don't like it and that's probably why you are getting bit.  His cage needs to be a 'safe place' like a burrow would be, so you need to never reach in when he is in there.  Let him come out of his cage on his own, sit on the floor, and be patient.  Let him interact with you when he wants to, and never 'grab' at him.  They are curious and he will investigate you.  When he does, give him treats.  If he's scared of you already, this could take a while (like weeks or months.  Never restrain him unless you need to for grooming, nail trimming, or medical treatment.  Rabbits are not usually the 'cuddly' animals people think they should be.  They are prey animals and act accordingly.  Only people who understand this and treat them with respect will enjoy having them as pets.

It is usual for a rabbit to bite, and depending on the species, they all require different holding need. Just keep it and continue to hold it on you lap and stroke it. Also feed it dandelion leaves or its favourite food so it thinks handling time is fun time. Also be very gentle with it when holding it and it will see you as a friend, not an enemy

Neither of you are mean, he has had a  hard life, you will earn respect from him when you show him that ur the boss, simply firmly say No whenevner he does that, and whenever he doesnt say good boy pet him and give him a treat, it will soon go away! (his habbit) dont get rid of the poor little guy

NO, I have had One of my bunnies for 7 years and she bites. Give him a break you are going to make it harder for him by getting rid of him.

no dont give him up if you saved him you must love animals or just the cute little bunny

and by giveing him up to another person will just teach him that no one loves him i have a bunny i am taching him not to bit by loveing him petting his head  you have to make him trust you and when he does trust you he will be  soooo cute
