My cable box (digital) is hooked up to my VCR-I can play VCRs but can't record from TV-why?

I recently upgraded to digital from regular cable. I could record to my vcr before this upgrade. Now when I turn the tv channel to 3, which is what's behind the vcr, a blue screen comes up-when I change channels, each new channel shows on the tv screen, but still the blue screen each time. what am i doing wrong.

Digital cable is not based on your TVs channels but the cable boxes channels. I am sure you have noticed that you don't change your channels on your TV anymore when watching cable but with the cable remote., or perhaps on the cable receiver itself.

Check the instructions that came with your cable box it will explain how to setup VCR recording as it varies with each cable box.
