My cactus flowers then produces red balls where the flowers used to be? What is it?

I have a round cactus that produces beautiful yellow flowers, when the flowers fall off there is a red ball left on the plant..what is it? I can email pics but not sure how to post on here. Is there a possibility its paote (spelling)? I can send pics if anyone night know.

  3. What type of cactus is it? The "red balls" are most likely the fruit of the plant.(some times called prickly pear)
