My camcorder is pretty old and I need to edit a tape . I tried a usb cable, but there is no plug in my camcorder. Can anyone give a couple of suggested programs/cables/etc. that could possibly get my video onto my computer?

Use the AV cable that came with the camera - the same one used for connectiing directly to a TV. You will also need a Pinnacle Dazzle (USB) or Canopus (firewire) analog/digital bridge.
