I recently got a Sony HDR-SR1 for my birthday. I love it, the videos are great ect...

The only problem is, the videos aren't uploading to my computer. The pictures on it will, but the videos won't.

And when I go to windows movie maker, while it's plugged in, it says that no devices are plugged in. What should I do? I'm really, really frustrated. ):

  1. Hi, You are using the USB connection. You need to use the one marked DV.

You will need to connect it to the Firewire port on your PC, if it does not have one, then go to your local computer shop and buy a Firewire card, should only be $20..

  2. First of all the prior answers are wrong!! Because there isn't any firewire connection on hard drive camcorders!! Have you tried to use the software that came with the camera?? What operating system are you using?? Check the Sony support site. They have online tutorials & live help if needed. Follow the link below>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  3. If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

    Edit...I'm sorry I didn't see Hard drive...
