My camcorder makes loud clicking noises, how do I fix it ?

Model is: Sony hanydcam hi 8 ccd trv68

When I turn on the camcorder, something in the tape mechanism beings clicking repeatedly and won't stop. Solutions?

when the tape deck is acting up by making clicking, or being non functional, eating tapes, the expensive way is to have it fixed through sony.

The tape drive itself is usually a non repairable item, and is replaced as a unit.  

The only other thing to do is sell it as parts on ebay, many broken ones are sold off.  You could try to get $40 + shipping for it.  Make your shipping low and you will get good results, get a flat rate USPS box, less than $10 to ship.

Sounds like the tape is not locked in completely. If it is not that, I don't know.
