Hey, so my camera (Olympus FE230) freezes after a couple of pictures, and the screen goes all blank.

I take out the batteries for five mintues and it'll work for about three shots again.

Is there any way i can fix this? or is it a goner

  1. I have an Olympus camera also and it froze just like yours.  mine came back to life. there are many ways. 1. go to the store you purchased your camera or any camera store that can fix it. 2. if you dropped it, try fixing it. 3. take the batteries out like before, but this time wait a little longer. start with ten minutes, then 15, then 20. it will surely work.

  2. try to use new batteries or look to see if there are any updates for that camera. go to olympus.com go to support or downloads and find your camera and download the firmware and add it to your desktop and follow directions. who knows you might get lucky

  3. In seven days!

  4. What do you mean--you take out the batteries for five minutes and it will work for a few shots.

    Are the batteries fully charged?

Look at your manual--the RESET (the last resource, since it resets all your settings) is done as follows:

    -----------

The RESET function gives you the flexibility to decide. When RESET is set to NO, your custom settings will be retained when the power is turned off. When RESET is set to YES, the factory default settings will be restored each time the power is turned off.

To restore the factory default settings, turn the mode dial to any shooting mode except [GUIDE], and then press the [MENU] button. Press the Left arrow on the arrow pad to select RESET. Press the [OK] button to access the RESET menu. Next, press the Up or Down arrow button to select YES. Press [OK] to reset the camera defaults.

The functions affected by RESET and their default values are: Flash mode (AUTO), Macro mode (off), Exposure Value (0.0), Self-Timer (OFF), Image Quality (HQ), Scene Menu (Sport), MOVIE W/ SOUND (ON), and PICTURE + SOUND (OFF).

Note: In the absence of battery power, custom settings will be retained for about three days. After that, the original factory default settings will be restored. If the battery is in the camera for a short period of time, the date and time settings will be reset earlier than this. Before taking important pictures, check that the date and time settings are correct.

    ---------

Try that if nothing else works.
