hello.

i have an olympus, and today i took it out to take a picture. it was just in my bag in the cell phone pocket.

i took it out and went to take a picture and it loooks like theres a HUGE crack across the whole screen, but it must be on the lens.

i am going to a concert saturday, so im so upset!

i bought my camera at circuit city, and i have a warrantee on it, i know that the warranty is only for some things, do you think they will fix it?

thanks

  1. Unless you bought an extended warranty that covers accidents, the regular warranty will not cover it.  It could probably be fixed, but you would have to pay for it.  You could call Olympus and see if they could give you an estimate, but don't be surprised if it would cost almost as much as a new camera.

A camera should be in a case, not in a purse.  Just too easy for it to get bumped when it is in a purse.  I'm sorry it got broken..

  2. The warranty at any store, usually last 30 days, and they won't fix it, they will just give you a new one, or your money back.

If you said that the crack is across the whole screen, then the screen id broken not the lens, just take a picture, and check it on the computer, if it looks fine, then your camera still works, if the lens is in fact cracked, then you could photoshop all your pictures :( or try to replace the lens, which will cost you either as much as the camera or more! '~' So I would recomend getting a new one, but for the concert, just either rent one, borrow one, or if it's just for fun pix, then get a disposable camera in the mean time.

  3. If the crack is on the screen it won't affect your shots.

Take a few pictures, upload them to comp and have a look. You'll know if it's the lens or screen that is damaged.

If it's the screen you can wait till after the concert to visit Circuit City and ask about their warranty policies.

  4. Well, it depends. Some warranty only covers manufature defect, some covers stuff like that. If you want to argue, make sure that you said that you always carry it in a camera holder, and that it's always off when it's not in use.
