My camera lens won't retract it is popping out even when it s off, any ideas?

I had this happen with my camera and found it to be the battery connections with the camera.

Remove the batteries for at least one minute to allow the camera to reset or restore to the original settings.

Clean the battery and camera connections as described in the source link. Charge the batteries and place in the camera.  The camera should return to normal.   You may need new NiMH rechargeable batteries which should be cleaned and charged before use.
