My camera won't work. Please diagnose problem?

I have an HP Photosmart 320.

I haven't turned it on in about two years.

When I attempted to use it today, I figured it needed new batteries, as it only got as far as the "HP invent" screen before shutting off.

After replacing its batteries with Radio Shack Digital Plus batteries, I attempted to power it up again.

Upon pressing the "power" button, I only see a red light flash once or twice and then nothing.

Is there anything I can do?

Am I doing something wrong?

  1. Howdy Nyle.   To diagnose a camera malfunction,  sight unseen is  a bit chancey...  but after reading the entire question,  something came to me.   You say your camera has not been turned on in about two years...  Then you say you replaced the old batteries with new ones.   I would say you should look inside of the battery compartment with a flashlight.   Check to see if the battery contacts inside are clear and clean...  as there might have accumulated some battery corrosion in that length of time.  If the metal looks at all dull,  that is just exactly what happened.    This type of damage is easy enough to  correct if the corrosion did not penetrate further deep inside the body.   For future reference...  never let any camera sit up with batteries still inside it.
