So my carmera's (PowerShot A540 if that helps) screen has been broken for a while now, and it used to be i couldn't see pictures until i downloaded them. The camera was still taking pictures for a few months, but has recently stopped! I'll press down the button to take a picture, but don't hear the lense click. Everything still works like it did before (minus the screen and lense) but i was wondering if it just needs a minor adjustment, or if i need a completely new one. Thank you for your help/expertice :)

  1. Frankly, the PowerShot A540 will cost more to repair than just buying another one ~$150....unless its under warranty....

The nikon line is more durable and weather sealed.....at least their dslrs are....

  2. I think you're better off getting a new one... getting little point and shoot cameras fixed usually cost about the same as getting a new one.

  3. I own a Canon Powershot A560 (just like yours except a newer version) and for some time the LCD screen was just black. I totally freaked out but I started playing with it and when I clicked the DISPLAY button, it came back. Apparently, display is the button 4 u, if your going to look through the hole (whatever its called) instead of standing back and looking at the screen.

Just hit the DISPLAY button and hopefully it comes up. It may be the reason for the blank screen and for the pictures not being available until being downloaded. It's just, you sort of turned off the screen.

    Good luck!
