My car died but it wasn't the battery.. what's the name of the other part..?

It's a new battery so that wasn't the reason my car wouldn't start. My uncle went to the store to buy a part to replace whatever was wrong. I just need to get the story straight to tell my mom haha

anyone know the name of the part & what the "other" reason a car won't start besides a dead battery

I had the same problem!

It was my alternator and it was $150(Canadian)for just the part and I had my boyfriend install it.

Works great now!good luck and I hope it works out for ya!

There are hundreds of parts that makes the car engine run.  Any one of them can make the car fail.

You must have better info so more meaningful diagnostics can be made. Otherwise it would be just cheaper to let a pro change the ONE or two parts instead of just trying blindly.

alternator or the starter

battery cable, starter, ignition switch, could be many things.  most likely the starter.

If your battery is charge and won't start it's your starter or if your but sounds like you are asking about your alternator.if your car started with

your charge battery and then it discharged while running the it's your alternator good luck
