  1. Hi,

Though I'm not able to catch you fully,I tell you what you'll do.You can lodge a claim any time, but you've to follow the proper claim filing procedures. If you avail cashless facility, claim check will directly be paid to the repairer or policy holder(if he/she paid them cash),not anybody else. But if it is a minor damage, why do you bother to lodge a claim with so many formalities and paperworks? And check out for any deductible and do the math. Good day.

  2. The insurance company will issue payment and approved repair shop.  There are usually a few that the insurance companies use.

I don't suggest not reporting it to her insurance simply because you could get the repairs done and she doesn't pay or something else might go wrong with your car and it wouldn't be covered.  Her insurance should also cover a rental car while yours is being repaired.

If you still choose to go that route, get a signed and notarized statement from her where she admits to the fault of the accident agrees to make all payments which might help in the event you have to take her to court at a later date.  A police report might help as well, but that could be reported to her insurance.

Keep in mind that damages over $1000 are usually reported to Car-Fax and when trading in or selling your vehicle, those reports are often used in determining value.  Not having a good repair could affect the resale value.

$500-1300 is a pretty wide estimate range.  Obviously, she would want the less expensive estimate. I would check with the Better Business Bureau on the repair shops or get referrals from friends and family.

  3. Yes, the insurance company would make it out to you.

Tell her, fine, you're going to go through insurance after all.
