OK... so I have a dilemma. I am currently riding on my last day of car insurance, but have been in a financial bind to continue to pay.

Question is, with me owing them a current balance. Could I, within the next day or so, apply with another company and start a new one all over again?

I mean is that possible to do for whatever the new price is offered ? BTW, State Farm is my carrier....

  1. FYI - if your cancellation notice says that your insurance cancels today, it probably cancelled early this morning at 12:01 am so you may NOT currently have insurance.  check the time on the the cancellation notice to make sure.

You can always let your insurance lapse for a day or two, but it will cost you.  Failure to disclose the lapse to the new carrier is fraud and comes with heavy fines and possible jail time.  That lapse will most likely cause the new premium to increase.  Plus many states impose a per-day fine for each day you have a car that is registered without insurance.

  2. Check with State Farm and see if you have been cancelled yet. Once you get cancelled by a carrier, you normally end up having to get "high risk" insurance and it isn't cheap. I had this happen once after being with State Farm for years. My wife thought changing from SF to a cheaper carrier would be best. We had some problems with the new company and got cancelled. Called SF back and was informed that I had to carry high risk for 3 years.

  3. Might be , but for a go getter should not be a problem

  4. For automobile insurance the quick way to get a low rate is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make certain that you choose similar options with the same limits, auto make, zip code, etc so that all options are an accurate comparison.

What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and will give many quotes on car insurance polices.

  5. states may vary..but i think so
