I know you can tax a car up to two weeks before it's due but do they need to see the MOT docs or would it still be classed as under warranty

  1. you will definatly need an MOT certificate, I believe you have to present this whilst obtaining a tax disk, but I may be wrong.

  2. You need the MOT before you tax it. You will need this and your insurance certificate to get the tax.

  3. it should not be a problem as the warranty is still valid

  4. the tax can not be due on the 31st of the month, that is the day it runs out. so it is due on 1st Aug and therefore you need an MOT

  5. According to the DVLA, the MOT 'must be valid when the tax disc comes into force'

If the car becomes 3 years old on August 1st, then this would suggest that you could tax it on 16th July (You can tax 15 days into the previous month).

I would advise trying to tax it online on the 16th, the system will confirm whether the MOTs needed prior to you having to pay.

    You can tax online here;

    http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPort...

  6. you may not need the mot if its under 3 years old when you tax it, but you've got to have one anyway so just get it done.

  7. One point - get the MoT done before the warranty runs out, so with 3 year warranty, get the MoT done after 2 years 11 months, using the fact that it can be done 1 month early. That way, if there's something wrong, it should be fixed under warranty. If you go and MoT it when it 3 years and 1 day old, the warranty will have expired, and any repairs will be at your cost.

  8. You must have a current MOT to tax the car. As the car does not technically require an MOT until the end of the month I would think that you would be able to tax it if you do it in advance. However you should make sure that your car has it's MOT for the safety of yourself and others.

  9. If the car is more than 3 years old, it must have a valid MOT certificate ON THE DAY THAT THAT THE TAX COMES INTO FORCE.

It doesn't matter if you buy the tax early - it doesn't come into force until the 1st of August.

If your car was registered on the 1st of August 2005, it will require an MOT on the 1st of August this year - so yes, you need to get it tested before you can tax it.

  10. If you renew the tax before its three years old you dont need the MOT, leave it one day later and you will. You will still need the MOT anyway so whats the problem.

  11. You will need to have a valid MOT if the vehicle requires one on the day the tax disc comes into force. I the current tax expires 31st July and the vehicle was first registered on 31st July 2005 or earlier you will need an MOT to tax it from 1st August, if the vehicle was first registered on 1st August or later you will not need one.

  12. thx for the answer i downloaded the wrong song,

and yes its mot first u can get it done a month before its due and u would get 13 month  and u could could do it online while your away hope this helps

  13. You have to have the MOT before you can tax.

  14. It needs to be mot'd if the car is over three years old. When you pay the tax online, the d.v.l.a automatically know whether the car is insured or mot'd or not.

  15. yes BUT you can get it mot'd 30 days before it runs out giving you 13 months mot.

  16. you cannot tax your vehicle without a current mot on it, wether it be on line or at a post office
