  1. With the info provided 20K.   find out when the noise happens when your driving it,  does it come from the front or back?  can you feel it in the steering wheel? Or when applying the the breaks.  You will get riped off if you walk in and tell them that."it makes noise fix it"

  2. I don't care what the noise is.

For $US100,000 plus parts, I'll fix it.

If you don't want to take it to a shop, and you don't have any idea what it is, I guess you'll never get it fixed or be able to fix it!

You "don't want to take it to a shop because you will be ripped off".

if YOU can't describe or identify the noise and its source, sure, you may get ripped off.

That doesn't mean ALL shops would rip you off.

Your noise might be the cat who lived under the hood complaining.

  3. Your question is too vague to answer.

In spite of your paranoia, not all professionals are ripoff places.  Take it to a garage that has free or inexpensive diagnosis to troubleshoot, then come back to this Yahoo site.  If you're still afraid, go to an auto repair school, the students will inspect your car under the guidance of an instructor.

Ask relative, friends, neighbors, you do need help diagnosing the noise.

  4. I am really starting to like you Doc!

The dreaded phone call wanting us to diagnose their vehicle based on noise or symptom!

I used to be really good at it but then I got drunk one night and broke my crystal ball. I tried to buy a new one but they all come from China and are on back order due to material and labor shortages thanks to the Olympics!

  5. Time to step away from the computer! When you start making fun of people who don't know or understand the automobile and you want to belittle them. It's time to shut up Mr.ASE

Is this part of your soapbox speech like the following:

Your expert answers haven't been that good anyhow.

  6. it depends on where the noise is at.

  7. If you take it to someone you know then you won't get ripped off, also about the noise it is hard to tell you how much it will cost without know where the noise is coming from and what the noise sounds like!! It could cost from around $60 and up over the thousand dollar range.

  8. You tell us where the noise is coming from and we'll give you some ideas to consider. Asking us how much it would cost to fix a noise that we cant see ot hear is like asking us which way the wind will blow next Tuesday!
