My car is making strange noises?

My 2004 Honda Element is making a noise that sounds like an electrical sparking everytime I start the engine. Today it even seemed to be making that noise as I was idling at a stop light with my turn signal on. Does anyone have any clue what this might be.

  1. Take it to a mechanic! Of course we can't help you here because we can't look at your car!

  2. did u open the hood and look/listen   no? don't worry it will stop after the fire is put out.

  3. Best bet is taking to you local mechanic for a look at/ tune up.

Try checking all spark plugs, and all spark plug wires.

Check for a damaged distributor cap, and make sure all fuses are working.

  4. Sounds like an ignition arc from a spark plug wire or something.  Wait until after dark, start the engine, lift the hood and look for a spark somewhere around the ignition wiring.  The darker it is the easier it will be to spot.  If you find something, don't touch anything until you shut the engine off.  If it isn't anything you can fix, it may give you some valuable information to pass on to a mechanic.
