My car is not registered to me?

I got pulled over friday night and they said that my cars registeration is revoked when i call the dmv they say my car is not reg to me how can i find out who the car is registered to

  1. Simplest way is to look at the title.  Or to look at the registration documents.  Whatever name is listed there as owner, is the owner.


  2. it should say the name on the registration card. also.. where was the car from? where did you get it from? it's strange that u don't know who is it registered to and you're the one driving it.

  3. I know this seems a little strange but a couple of years ago I saw a news report about a scam involving cars. There were cases where on some of these cars the Identification tag was tampered with or covered with a fake one that matched an identical car. These con-men then somehow were able to get a duplicate title with the new fake Vin number (matching the identical car) resulting in more than one car with the same reg. number. In many of these cases the two cars were in different states and who ever sold the car, probably was unaware of the problem. I know this unlikely, but it is a possibility that either your car or another identical car has a fake Vin.
