Been out all morning in my car with no problems what so ever, go back to my car this afternoon and its just not working. it starts rev's once then cuts out, i thought it might of been petrol so i went and got some, but it was still the same,

my bro had a look but couldn't see anything, I've checked the fuses which are all ok, we tried jump starting but that didn't help either, what could this be?? my bro said it might be one of th relays on the fuse box, is there anything else this could be I'm driving a vauxhall tigra M reg?????????

  1. This is exactly what happens when fuel-lines get almost invisible pin-holes in them... You can start the car, then they draw air in which leaves the fuel-pump high and dry, so the engine stalls.  Arkwardly, they tend to be under the car, so you have to jack the car right up and make it safe on axle-stands before trying to work on it.  Replacing all the rubber fuel lines is not very expensive, but make sure you change all the hose-clips too.  Perhaps only 25pounds or less, and it will ensure that this is not where your problem lies, before you spend a lot of money elsewhere.

Also, it is worth having someone listen to the fuel-pump when you start the car.  You should hear the fuel-relay click, and the pump whirr.  You need to use a continuity-tester on the relay, or a test lamp, and if the pump has gone, most fuel injection pumps are available cheap on eBay for about 30 pounds.  A dealer will rip you off for well over a hundred!

  2. Immobiliser could be playing up but it sounds as if the fuel pump isn't doing anything check all plugs to the pump or take it to a mechanic with diagnosis machine.

  3. My fuel pump went in an N reg Corsa, and it only started once before the fuel pump died, and not after.
