I'm buying a used 1998 honda and the seller explained the situation to me and said it would cost $150 to take it in so that the powerlocks work again...is there any way that I can fix it on my own? the powerlocks would be nice but I can't really afford $150 for that type of luxury.

  1. How good are you with some of the people at Auto Zone? Some will in fact come out provided you are at there store and hook up a small hand held device and tel you just were or what censer is bad for not. You can then purchase it there and they might even put it in for you. save you a huge amount of money. they do batteries and wiper blades or at least around here they will. Chance are it is a fuse that has blown and needs replaced.

    Good luck

  2. the aftermarket headunit whould only effect the doors if they blew the fuse box when they installed it.

check the fuses pannel under the dash.

only like 50cent for a fuse.

  3. check all the fuses on that vehicle. that will be the problem most likely if its all the doors.

i had a blown fuse on my daily car. it was just a 5A fuse, the very very small ones.. and it controlled the door locks, the trunk, all the windows to roll down/up, the alarm, interior lights, and the roof motor.

used a "testing light" to find the blown fuse. all in all, took me around 2 minutes to find the blown fuse. i already had spare fuses in the shop but they r not expensive. prob 5 bucks for a pack of several of them.

  4. a car salesman will tell u anything. u can check fuses and relays.
