My car jurks when i accelerate?

i have a 2000 honda accord my problem is when ever i try to accelerate this car jerks, feels like the gas does not have a free flow. I took it to have a diagnostic check the guy told me it was my catalytic converter need changing. I need your feed back asap

  1. Either that or you may need a tune up. Get new spark plugs and wires.


  2. It is possible it is the catalytic converter.

    Do the exhaust gases smell of rotten eggs? cos if they do, then your Cat has definitely gone.

    That isn't to say however that the Cat hasn't gone if it doesn't smell of rotten eggs! But that is a clear symptom.

    It could be something as simple as the ignition coil pack or worn spark plugs.

  3. Assuming the miss is as bad as you describe, it almost assuredly should have flagged at least one DTC and your Check Engine light should be on.  If this is the case, and your mechanic properly scanned said light, than his diagnosis will be better than any you will recieve on these forums.  As far as replacment costs associated with a catalytic on a Honda, just grab your ankles.  Most exhaust parts on imports costs a freakin fortune.
