I have a 2 12" su in the back of my 2001 Chevy Blazer with a 1000 watt sony xploid amp. I have a 50w x 4 cd player. For some reason my car keeps cutting off and it does it while I'm driving. But if I dont have my cd player on I can drive all day without a problem. I have the amp on the lowest amount of volts but I dont know what the problem is. Everything else is right I just have a problem with my stereo. My ground wire and battery cable is alright because the problem has just been occuring this last 4 months. I got a new battery also I just redid my ground wire and it works when I'm going short distances but when i go for a 30 min. trip it starts cutting off. I also unplugged the amp and turned off the cd player and it still kept cutting off. Is it my alternator or what? Please help me... What should I do?

  1. i want to say that autozone has a device that can test your alternator for free. i would start there. do you have dimming issues with headlights/ interior lights or other in car electronics?, if so the most likely culprit would be the alternator. if it is an alternator problem, upgrade to a higher outoput one so the problem doesnt reoccur. hope that helps. good luck
