Question:

My car keeps dieing it will start then die right after i start it but if its been off for awhile it will start

it start then dies, but as long as it hasnt ran in awhile it will run for a few minutes then die but its starts right back up and then dies and this just started two days ago before that it ran fine. 1983 American Motors Eagle Wagon L6 285 hp 4.2L. it has rwd with 2 wheel drive and 4wheel drive.

but since i bought it 2 months ago it spit and sputters after i turn it off sometimes. i live in Anchorage alaska and i need to get it fixed but im on a limited budget. i have 500 dollars to spend to fix the problem then in two weeks ill have another 400 so if anyone can find a simple answer or any answer i will really appreciate it. i alson have a Ujoint problem but the car not running is more of an issue right now that needs to be fixed PLEASE ANY HELP

  1. common with any Chrysler product of that era, yes its a Chrysler!  replace the pick up coil in the distributor, the module on the fire wall and the ballast resistor, it could any of the 3 but do all 3 to save yourself a head ache and time about $75 here in CA.  any auto parts dealer that knows his beans knows this problem and will have these parts in stock


  2. It might be your fuel pump get that checked out, that will run you about 300-400 dollars.Hope it helps

  3. have you check your battery,oil,any other fluids  sparkplugs in your car mayb you need a tune up its not so pricez mayb like $200 at most
