I have a 97 Toyota corolla DX, It makes a loud scratching noise whenever I turn the wheel left while the car is running. I spoke to a friend about it, he said it might be the wheel axle. Is this something I should be worried about? should I not drive my car? Is it expensive to fix?

  1. Sounds like a brake caliper- pads are worn.

  2. It sounds like either a dust shield rubbing on one of the front rotors, or rust buildup on the right rear brake drum rubbing on the backing plate. Take it to a shop and have them check it out. A good mechanic should be able to pinpoint the problem in minutes.

  3. yes and yes and maybe yes it could be the axle yes is something to worry about and yes you should drive any more than you have to get to a shop with and maybe it wil be high but you wont know til you get it to a shop to see what it really is ... so drive it to the nearest shop and have it check would be smart
